This conversation will bring together senior campus leaders to speak candidly about how executive leadership actually evaluates global engagement as an institutional priority. This is not a session about the research case for global education. It is a conversation about the organizational and political realities that determine whether global learning gets resourced, championed, or sidelined — and what it takes to build the kind of cross-divisional coalitions that make it durable.

This conversation will bring together senior campus leaders to confront why the participation gap in global education has persisted — and in places widened — despite years of frameworks, scholarship initiatives, and strategic plans. This is not a session about what the research already tells us about barriers like cost, curriculum, and fit. It is a debate-style conversation about the structural choices, cultural assumptions, and institutional habits that have made global learning less accessible than it should be, and what it would take to rethink who global education is built for and who gets to decide. This moderated plenary discussion will feature senior higher-education leaders who represent different institution types.

Vice Provost for Global Engagement

This conversation brings together voices with direct experience in technology, geopolitics, and the shifting world of work to examine what these forces actually mean for global learning and student success. Panelists will speak from their own positionality about what they are seeing, what institutions are actually doing, and whether global education is positioned to matter in the world students are actually entering.
